- DIAMOND DASH VOLUNTEER INFO for Saturday!
Hi Diamond Dash Volunteer!
Saturday is going to be here before we know it! We’d like to go over a few VERY IMPORTANT THINGS to prepare (sorry, it’s long, but important!):
First and foremost: THIS IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT, right now Saturday looks good, and hopefully it stays that way, but just in case!! We absolutely couldn’t put on this amazing day benefiting the Handicapped Development Center without you! We have put a lot of time and effort into organizing volunteer assignments and we NEED each and every volunteer that signed up to show up. (If you can no longer make it, please let us know ASAP so we can plan accordingly.)
Please be at North Scott Senior High School (200 S. 1stSt.) in Eldridge, Iowa between 10-10:30am this Saturday, August 18th. Check-in at the Volunteer table—this is where you will get your assignment and we will go over your volunteer duties. We should be all set up and ready for you to have a fun day helping support a great charity! (There will be some coffee and donuts, so feel free to help yourself once inside the cafeteria after check-in!)
Feel free to park in any legal spot near the High School—they did ask us to avoid the parking lot near the auditorium (where there is still construction). The Ed White Elementary School (121 S. 5thSt.) parking lot connects to the High School parking lot and is a great place to park. Come in the main front doors of the High School (there will be signage).
We recommend wearing comfy bottoms and tennis shoes. You will receive your volunteer shirt at the Volunteer Registration table when you arrive, please plan on wearing this as it helps identify stops on the course. Some of you may be at an outside stop on the Dash—so please plan accordingly: bring bag/lawn chairs to sit in (just in case), and maybe umbrellas/raincoats (depending on what the forecast has in store for us). [You can leave the lawn chairs in your car, once you check-in and get your volunteer task, if you need them, you can go get them at that point/before you head out to the course.]
There will be a Volunteer Meeting at promptly 11:00am. Please listen for the DJ’s announcement. This is when we will answer any questions and make sure everyone understands and has their assignment.
Participants start arriving beginning around 10:30am. We will go over the Diamond Dash rules and regulations with them at 11:30am—before we start that, we will make an announcement for all of the Volunteers & Sponsors to take their places on the course [so you have about 30 minutes to get to your spot and set up]. The Diamond Dash is from 12-2pm (barring any crazy weather or technology issues delaying things), after which, everyone will meet back at the High School. Once back, we encourage everyone, including volunteers, to visit our sponsor booths and enjoy tastings from our food sponsors as we tabulate points, and then award over $40,000 in prizes (some of which will include/be available to volunteers too!)!!
We also recommend bringing water, etc. for while you're at your spot--we will have some water available that day, but want to ensure you stay hydrated on the course!
(In case it rains, if anyone has any extra pop-up tents they’d be willing to bring for the day, we’d happily use them and ensure we get them back to you!)
Thank you again for volunteering to be a part of this one-of-a-kind charity event, we can't wait to have fun with you this Saturday at the 9thAnnual Diamond Dash in Eldridge supporting the Handicapped Development Center!
